A group of 27 students recently participated in the Tokyo D&T/DAT Study Tour from 6 to 11 July 2024. One of the highlights was a visit to the Panasonic Centre, where the students learned about the latest advancements in consumer electronics and home appliances. They were particularly impressed by Panasonic’s focus on environmental sustainability and how their products are designed with energy efficiency and recycling in mind. The group also toured the Railway Museum, which showcased the rich history and evolution of Japan’s world-renowned rail network. Students were fascinated by the sleek bullet trains and the intricate engineering that goes into these high-speed transportation systems. In addition, the students tried their hand at stop-motion animation, which is closely tied to the creative media aspect of the DAT curriculum. They also had the chance to make various food models, providing hands-on experience with material processing. Of course, no trip would be complete without indulging in the local cuisine. The students savored delectable ramen, tonkatsu, and traditional teishoku sets, leaving them with a greater appreciation for Japanese culinary delights.
