A team of ten students from Hong Kong achieved excellent results at the International Economics Olympiad (IEO) 2024, winning one gold medal, five silver medals, and four bronze medals. We are especially proud of Hung Kwan Kei Jun (6G) from La Salle College, who received a silver medal.
Among 270 representatives from 53 countries and regions, the team secured 7th place. The IEO consists of three rounds: an economics exam featuring objective and essay questions on applied economics and quantitative analysis of economic theory; a financial literacy exam that tests contestants on financial modeling; and a business case competition in which national and regional teams present policy proposals with just 24 hours to research and prepare. This year’s topic was to propose solutions to alleviate the housing affordability crisis in Hong Kong.
Congratulations to Jun for his outstanding performance! We wish him continued success in his future studies and endeavors.
