On 9 July, students from La Salle College had the opportunity to embark on a captivating one-day excursion to Macau to immerse ourselves in the region’s profound religious history and cultural diversity.

Over the course of the day, we visited an impressive array of five historic churches, each offering a unique glimpse into Macau’s enduring spiritual legacy. The journey began at the serene Chapel of Our Lady of Penha, perched on a hill offering panoramic views of the city and sea, providing a perfect spot for reflection. We then proceeded to the ornate Our Lady Carmel Church, known for its elegant facade and peaceful surroundings in the heart of Taipa.

As we moved through the city, the St. Lawrence’s Church impressed us with its splendid woodwork and stained glass. The trip continued to the St. Joseph’s Seminary and Church, where the blend of Western and Chinese architectural elements was a highlight for many. Lastly, the St. Augustine’s Church provided a somber yet beautiful conclusion to our tour, with its rich history and strong community ties.

This trip not only enriched our students’ understanding of Macau’s cultural heritage but also brought them closer together through shared experiences. We look forward to more such enriching excursions in the future!
