Our Odyssey of the Mind team, after achieving 2nd place in the Hong Kong Regional Tournaments, represented Hong Kong to attend the OM World Finals held at Iowa State University, USA from 19 to 26 May.

Odyssey of the Mind (OM) competitions aim to strengthen participants’ creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a particular emphasis on creativity. They task participants with solving a Long-Term Problem (an 8 minute performance that shows how the team would tackle a problem with an unlimited number of interpretations possible) and a Spontaneous Problem. To solve these problems, our team members had to utilise the knowledge and skills acquired in many subjects such as Design and Technology (D&T) and Visual Arts (VA), alongside a touch of drama skills. Solving these problems is no easy feat.

Amongst the tens of participating teams from the US, China, Singapore, Japan, and more, our team ranked 16th in Problem 3 (Opening Night Antics) Division III. The team would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the teacher advisors, Mr. Alfred Lam, Mr. Timothy Goh, and Mr. Silas Fong, for their guidance and support over the past 6 months.
