La Salle College has seven music teams – wind orchestra, symphony orchestra, string orchestra, Chinese orchestra, Chinese drum team, treble choir and senior choir.  Besides the music teams, each orchestra and choir have small ensembles like woodwind quintet, string quartet, vocal ensembles, etc.  Besides regular sectional practices and whole team practices, additional practices are added before performances and competitions.  Traditionally, the school teams participate in two major local competitions – Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows and Hong Kong Schools Music Festival in which they have captured numerous awards.  On top of these competitions, the music teams organise activities, namely, holding exchange programmes with local and foreign schools, joining foreign competitions, inviting famous musicians to give masterclasses and lectures, and holding large-scale concerts including the Spring Concert, Annual Concert, Old Boys’ Concert and Joint School Concert.  Besides the passionate and energetic involvement of the students and conductors, the support of parents, Old Boys and the teaching staff are crucial factors in our success.  In academic areas, the school provides the DSE Music elective to musically-talented students who consistently attain marvelous results.  Some of them study music as their major in university and have embarked on a career in music.  In the school, the Music Club also provides music activities to all students to arouse their interest in music.
