STEAM Projects

La Salle College is committed to fostering STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) to enhance, embed, and realise the motto "We Learn, We Solve & We Create," in our students. We recognise the importance of integrating these disciplines to nurture well-rounded individuals equipped with the skills and knowledge to thrive in the modern world. To achieve this, we have implemented a comprehensive STEAM programme that offers a wide range of opportunities for our students to explore and engage with these fields. Through hands-on experiments, project-based learning, and collaboration with industry professionals, our students are encouraged to think critically, problem-solve, and unleash their creativity. We provide state-of-the-art facilities, cutting-edge technology, and a supportive learning environment to empower our students to embrace innovation and make meaningful contributions to society. Our commitment to STEAM development ensures that our students are prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the future, fostering a passion for learning and an enduring curiosity that will serve them well throughout their lives.

Facilities

Our STEM Lab and D&T Workshop provide our students with cutting-edge facilities to enhance their learning experience.

Cross-subject Projects

In Form 1, students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in D&T, Math, and Science to design and create a 3D-printed helicopter and thermal cup. This project allows them to explore the principles of aerodynamics, thermodynamics, and mathematical calculations in a practical context.

For Form 2 classes, students embark on a STEM project focusing on water rockets. By utilising their knowledge from D&T, Math, and Science, students are able to design, build, and launch water rockets, demonstrating their understanding of concepts such as projectile motion, forces, and pressure. In addition, students are able to measure the height the water rockets achieved with their knowledge learned in Mathematics.

Achieving Sustainable Development Goals through STEM and Design Thinking

Students are expected to demonstrate their understanding in Design Thinking, apply their STEM knowledge in their invention or investigation projects, and present their projects to judges.

Extra-curricular activities

Enrichment Programmes

In addition to our cross-subject STEAM projects, our school offers a range of STEM Enrichment Programmes designed to further engage and inspire our students. These programmes include immersive experiences such as our AR/VR Programme, where students explore the exciting realms of augmented and virtual reality, unlocking new possibilities for interactive learning. Additionally, our Coding with Micro:bit and Arduino programme equips students with the skills to program and create innovative projects using microcontrollers. These STEM Enrichment Programmes provide valuable opportunities for our students to delve deeper into the world of STEM, nurturing their passion for discovery and empowering them to become confident and creative problem-solvers.

Competitions

Our school encourages students to actively participate in various STEM competitions, providing them with opportunities to showcase their practical applications of knowledge. These competitions serve as a platform for our students to demonstrate their skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities in real-world challenges. Through these experiences, students gain invaluable hands-on experience, refine their teamwork and communication skills, and learn from their peers.
